*This position is located at our Oakville, Ontario Plant.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking hard working, dedicated, punctual individuals who are looking for a full-time permanent opportunity, with potential for growth. The Press Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and set-up of the metal stamping press. Operators also perform and record periodic production quality checks. Full safety, quality and production training will be provided.
SHIFT DETAILS
- Day Shift: 6:30 am to 3:00 pm Mon to Friday
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- The Press Operator ensures that the die is set-up in a manner that allows the part to be ejected from the die properly and will be working on 250 ton to 1320 ton machines (both manual & progressive machinery).
- Ensures raw material being used is the correct material and gathers all receiving inspection tags and attaches these to the production control log card.
- Ensures that the scrap from the die is conveyed into the scrap containers
- Reviews packaging instructions and ensures correct containers and packaging materials are available.
- Inspects the parts that are manufactured, at defined intervals and records results on the inspection check sheet.
- Place In-Process Inspection Routing Tag on each container when the prescribed container quantity is reached.
- Record completed container quantity and container number on the Production Control Log Card with the batch number of the raw material.
- Record the quantity run, also any maintenance comments in the Die Maintenance Form.
- When the run is complete return all documentation to the quality department.
- Responsible for job efficiency (quick set up and run).
- Must work in compliance with the provision of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OH&SA) and the regulations, & use/wear the proper equipment, protective devices or clothing (i.e. PPE).
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
- Quality Policy / Quality Documentation / ISO9001 / TS16949
- Lock Out/Tag Out, ability to follow operating work instructions
- WHMIS GHS 2015, Health & Safety Act/ Policy
- Previous Press operation and set-up experience required
- Linear Transfer System experience is an asset
- Completion of grade 12 or equivalent training
- Familiar with on-the-job Quality Documentation
- Understand basic written and verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks
- Valid Lift Truck operating Certificate and/or Training is an asset but not required
PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS
- Considerable physical effort required, e.g. moving parts to bins, tightening screws on die (lifting limited to 35 lbs)
- Standing 100% of the workday
- No freedom to move at will
- Subject to heat and humidity during summer months
- Intense sensory/visual concentration is required performing production set ups and die tryouts, watching parts coming off the press
- Position is repetitive
- Listening concentration required to ensure press is operating correctly – position requires incumbent to listen to the press operation because if the machine is not running correctly most operators will recognize that by the sound of the machine operating
- Subject to constant noise when presses are running
- Clerical work completing quality part inspection list
COMPENSATION:
- $24.00 to $27.00 per hour
